The Annotated Sherlock Holmes books have arrived. My God!

The annotated Sherlock Holmes books have arrived.  I was prepared for some heft but nothing can quite prepare you for the sheer majesty of their weight. Fall asleep reading these at night and you'll likely wake up with a dead arm or worse.   Contentwise there is - as an old friend of mine used to say when flipping through any book with more than one hundred pages - a fair of reading there.

If I'm not back in six months - send out the search party.

  1. The game is afoot! Hope you like them! And when you're done, volume 3 is the novels. If you haven't read the stories in a long time, my advice is to read a story first without the notes, then circle back to the notes. This isn't abouut spoilers ( though there are some) but rather about savoring the stories without interruption. Enjoy!

  2. Cheers Leslie - I have the novels volume as well. They really are gobsmakingly lovely pieces of work. Currently reading The Sign of Four at the moment. Thank you for your reading tips!
